This is my little brother Samuel. He’s 11. He has autism, they say it’s a disorder with his brain and how it functions, I think that’s a load of bullshit. He is smarter than any kids his age and older, he has intelligence and understanding that you would not believe, yeah, he misbehaves, and does things that make me upset, but he’s no worse than these “normal” teenagers who choose to ruin their lives with drugs, sex and alcohol. He can’t talk, he’s speechless, he’s just started making the babbling noises like “ma” and “ta” but I can understand him without him needing to use sign language or any words. Sometimes I get frustrated that my parents are always bias towards him and always choosing his side over mine just because he’s autistic, but he knows what he’s done wrong and always apologises. I’m starting to teach him how to play piano, and he remembers everything and picks it up so easily, when I try to teach my friends, it’s like teaching a baby. He always has patience and a smile on his face, he knows he’s autistic, but he try’s his best to be “normal” which annoys me, because I don’t want him to be “normal” I want him to be him, an amazing kid. Just because they can’t do something, doesn’t mean they’re stupid. Disability means Possibility.
